The bright colors of the background give comfort into the foreground with abstract realism. There is a lot going on here in this area of the forest. The sun is high in the blue-blue sky and delivers on brightness to the background forest but begins to moderate coming into the foreground. The flowing stream begins to separate as it plunges over the crest, at the center of the work. Is that a mountainside rock formation reaching into the stream? That will be your call.
